The University Grants Commission (UGC) will soon begin the application process for two scholarship schemes through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). These include the National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies (NSPG) and the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme for the North Eastern Region. The commission has said that the detailed application schedule will be announced separately. Once the application window opens, eligible students can apply through the official National Scholarship Portal. The scholarships aim to provide financial support to students pursuing higher education and help reduce the cost of their studies. Scholarships offered through NSP:

Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme

Eligible students will receive financial assistance ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 80,000 per year, depending on the course. The scholarship will be provided for three to five years. To apply, the annual income of the applicant’s parents must not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh.

UGC issues instructions to colleges

UGC has directed all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to ensure that their Institutional Nodal Officers (INOs) verify scholarship applications within 15 days of submission on the National Scholarship Portal. The commission said timely verification will help students correct any errors or missing information in their applications before the last date for submission. UGC has also asked institutions to guide and assist students throughout the scholarship application process to ensure eligible candidates do not miss the opportunity.Note: UGC has not yet announced the application dates for either scholarship. Candidates are advised to keep checking the National Scholarship Portal for the notification regarding the opening of the application window.
