SSC releases revised first round tentative allocation list for Stenographer Grade C, D exam 2025

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the revised First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) for the Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Examination 2025. The revised allocation has been published after the commission reviewed the earlier result following representations from candidates regarding the evaluation of the Stenographer Skill Test. The earlier tentative allocation, announced on June 18, 2026, was withdrawn a day later after candidates raised concerns about the accuracy of the Skill Test evaluation. After completing a detailed review, SSC has now issued the revised allocation in line with the Sliding Mechanism introduced by the commission.

SSC Stenographer 2025: Revised allocation

A total of 232 candidates have been recommended for Stenographer Grade C, while 1,483 candidates have been recommended for Stenographer Grade D under the revised first round of tentative allocation.

Post Candidates recommended
Stenographer Grade C 232
Stenographer Grade D 1,483

Skill Test qualifying criteria

SSC has fixed the following maximum error limits for qualifying the Skill Test:

Post Unreserved (UR) Reserved categories
Stenographer Grade C Up to 5% mistakes Up to 7% mistakes
Stenographer Grade D Up to 7% mistakes Up to 10% mistakes

The commission has prepared the allocation based on candidates’ merit and the post and department preferences submitted during the online option-cum-preference process. A total of 10,132 candidates who submitted their preferences have been considered for further selection.

Sliding process schedule

Candidates shortlisted in the revised tentative allocation will have to participate in the sliding process as per the commission’s schedule.

Event Date
Choose venue, date and slot August 4 to August 5, 2026
Sliding process August 11 to August 12, 2026

Candidates will have to log in to the SSC website to select their preferred venue, date and slot. The venue details will be available in the login module while selecting the slot. SSC has stated that candidates who do not report physically for the sliding process will be treated as absent and will not be considered for the final result.

Tie-breaking rules

If two or more candidates secure the same total marks in the Computer Based Examination (CBE), SSC will resolve the tie in the following order:

  • Higher marks in English Language and Comprehension.
  • Higher marks in General Awareness.
  • Older candidate by date of birth.
  • Alphabetical order of the candidate’s name.

Important update

The commission has also cancelled the candidature of two candidates, while the candidature of several other candidates has been debarred by the concerned regional offices. SSC has further informed that the marks of both selected and non-selected candidates will be uploaded only after the declaration of the final result.
