NTA invites applications for 16 Young Professional

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited applications for 16 Young Professional (YP) positions through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Pratibha Setu portal. The recruitment aims to strengthen the agency’s academic, legal and finance functions as it expands its examination and research activities. According to the official notification, the vacancies are available in three streams. There are 12 posts in Academic Research, 2 posts in Legal Research, and 2 posts in Finance and Accounts Research. Selected candidates will work at the NTA headquarters in Delhi. Occasional travel within India may also be required depending on official work. The engagement will initially be for 24 months and may be extended by 12 more months based on performance and organisational requirements.

Eligibility criteria

Applications will be accepted only from candidates who are registered on the UPSC Pratibha Setu portal.

Academic Research

Candidates should:

  • Have appeared in the Civil Services Examination and be listed on the Pratibha Setu portal.
  • Preferably hold a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject.
  • Candidates with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or research and teaching experience will be given preference.

Legal Research

Candidates should:

  • Have appeared in the Civil Services Examination with Law as an optional subject.
  • Hold a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from a recognised university.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in legal research or litigation.

Finance and Accounts Research

Candidates should:

  • Have appeared in the Civil Services Examination and be on the Pratibha Setu portal.
  • Hold a postgraduate degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance or a related subject, or possess professional qualifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) or Company Secretary (CS).
  • Candidates with experience in finance, budgeting or auditing will be preferred.

Candidates must also fall within the age limit prescribed under the UPSC Pratibha Setu scheme.

Salary and tenure

Selected candidates will receive:

  • A fixed monthly remuneration of ₹80,000.
  • An initial contract of 24 months, extendable up to 36 months based on performance.
  • Eight days of leave per year on a pro-rata basis.
  • A full-time, five-day work week at the NTA office in Delhi.

The notification makes it clear that the engagement is purely contractual and does not guarantee permanent employment with the Government or NTA.

Selection process

The selection process will include:

  • Shortlisting of eligible candidates based on their profile and the relevant stream.
  • An interview, which may be conducted in person or through video conferencing.
  • If required, NTA may also conduct a written test or a task-based assessment before making the final selection.

NTA has also stated that merely meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee shortlisting or selection. The agency reserves the right to change the number of vacancies or not fill any post without assigning a reason.Read the detailed notification here.
