ICAI dismisses claims of data breach, says members' and students' records remain secure
ICAI refutes data breach allegations, urges stakeholders to rely on official updates

NEW DELHI: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has dismissed as “false, baseless and malicious” social media posts alleging a breach of its members’ and students’ records, including examination data. The institute said there had been no compromise of its databases and urged stakeholders not to rely on unverified information circulating online.In an official statement, ICAI said the claims had caused concern among students, members and other stakeholders. It clarified that there had been no breach of records “whatsoever as alleged or otherwise” and reiterated its commitment to safeguarding institutional data.ICAI urges stakeholders to rely on official communicationThe institute advised students, members and other stakeholders not to give credence to what it described as false and malicious propaganda on social media platforms. It requested stakeholders to refer only to official communications issued by ICAI for authentic information and updates.

The clarification comes amid the circulation of online posts claiming that members’ records and examination-related data had been compromised. ICAI, however, maintained that the allegations were unverified and without merit.Institute says robust data protection systems are in placeAccording to ICAI, it has implemented strong and robust systems to protect different categories of data and continues to maintain high standards of data security. The institute said these safeguards remain in place to protect information related to students, members and examinations.ICAI reiterated that there has been no breach of members’ or students’ records and appealed to stakeholders to avoid sharing or acting upon rumours circulating on social media. The institute emphasised that official announcements remain the only authentic source of information regarding its operations and examination-related matters.The clarification is intended to address concerns raised by the circulation of the claims and reassure students and members about the security of their records.
