CWG 2026: Gold medallist Jaismine Lamboria named India’s flag-bearer for closing ceremony

Jaismine Lamboria, one of India’s leading boxers, will carry the national flag at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in Glasgow on Sunday. The 24-year-old recently won gold in the women’s 57kg category, adding to the bronze medal she earned at the 2022 Birmingham Games.Lamboria has enjoyed a consistent run on the international stage. She won the World Championships in Liverpool last year and followed it with a silver medal at the Asian Championships earlier this year.Her gold in Glasgow further strengthens her growing record and makes her a fitting choice to lead India at the closing ceremony.

Ahmedabad 2030 handover

The closing ceremony will also feature the official handover of the Commonwealth Games to India, which will host the next edition in Ahmedabad in 2030.India’s culture and its connection with the Commonwealth community will be highlighted during the handover segment at the Hydro in Glasgow. The presentation will be divided into three acts and will focus on shared values, culture and connections between India and the Commonwealth family.
