The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has extended the last date to apply for the Probationary Officer (PO) and Specialist Officer (SO) recruitment 2026. Eligible candidates can now submit their applications until July 26, 2026, through the official website, ibps.in.The recruitment drive aims to fill 6,715 Probationary Officer vacancies and 745 Specialist Officer vacancies in participating banks.

IBPS PO, SO recruitment 2026: Eligibility

For Probationary Officer (PO) posts, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. They should also possess a valid mark sheet or degree certificate at the time of online registration and mention their graduation marks while filling out the application form.For Specialist Officer (SO) posts, the educational qualifications vary depending on the post. Candidates should check the detailed notification for the post-wise eligibility criteria.

IBPS PO, SO recruitment 2026: Selection process

For Probationary Officer (PO) recruitment, the selection process includes a preliminary examination, main examination, and personality test.The preliminary exam will have 100 questions carrying 100 marks and will be conducted for 60 minutes. The main examination will consist of 170 questions for 200 marks with a duration of 160 minutes.There is a negative marking in the objective tests. One-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every incorrect answer, while unanswered questions will not attract any penalty.For Specialist Officer (SO) recruitment, candidates will have to appear for an online preliminary examination, online main examination, and interview. Those who qualify in the preliminary exam will be shortlisted for the main examination. The final selection will be based on the marks secured in the main examination and interview.

How to apply for IBPS PO, SO recruitment 2026

Candidates can follow these steps to submit their application:

  1. Visit the official website of IBPS.
  2. Click on the IBPS PO, SO Recruitment 2026 registration link on the homepage.
  3. Register using the required details.
  4. Fill in the online application form.
  5. Upload the required documents and pay the application fee.
  6. Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.

Application fee

Candidates belonging to the General, Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories will have to pay an application fee of ₹850.Candidates from the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories will have to pay ₹175.The fee can be paid through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. Candidates are advised to complete the application process before the extended deadline of July 26, 2026.
