NEW DELHI: The Centre has created a separate category for Ex-Agniveers in the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Rifleman posts in the Assam Rifles. The new provisions include 50 per cent reservation of vacancies, age relaxation and exemptions from several stages of the recruitment process.The information was shared by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. The announcement outlines the recruitment benefits that will be available to Ex-Agniveers under the new category.Reservation and age relaxation provisionsAccording to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ex-Agniveers will receive reservation in 50 per cent of vacancies for the notified posts of Constable (General Duty) in CAPFs and Rifleman in the Assam Rifles.The government has also provided a relaxation of three years in the prescribed upper age limit for Ex-Agniveer candidates. In addition, candidates belonging to the first batch of Ex-Agniveers will be eligible for a five-year relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit.Exemptions in recruitment processThe new recruitment policy also grants Ex-Agniveers exemption from the Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and the written examination for these posts.The Ministry stated that these provisions have been introduced under the newly created Ex-Agniveer category in the recruitment process for CAPFs and the Assam Rifles.Dedicated wing established under MHAThe Ministry of Home Affairs has also established a dedicated Ex-Agniveer wing to coordinate the further progression of Ex-Agniveers.According to the written reply, the first batch of Agniveers has not yet completed its term of engagement.
