NEW DELHI: India’s boxing contingent continued its sensational run at the Commonwealth Games 2026, producing a flawless 5-0 record in the semifinals on Friday as Arundhati Choudhary, Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, Ankush Panghal and Jadumani Singh all booked their places in the gold medal bouts. The stunning clean sweep underlined India’s growing dominance in the ring, with the five pugilists assuring at least silver medals and moving one step closer to Commonwealth Games glory.

Arundhati stuns defending champion, Jaismine wins by RSC

The biggest statement came from Arundhati Choudhary, who upset defending champion Rosie Eccles of Wales in the women’s 70kg semifinal. The Indian boxer prevailed 4-0 after taking control of the opening two rounds, during which Eccles was handed a standing count. Despite a spirited fightback from the Welsh boxer, Arundhati held her nerve to complete a memorable victory.World champion Jaismine Lamboria was even more ruthless in the women’s 57kg semifinal. Facing Rapelang Maselela of Lesotho, Jaismine completely dominated the contest before winning by Referee Stops Contest (RSC) after her opponent received a third standing count late in the second round.

Preeti, Ankush and Jadumani complete perfect sweep

In the women’s 54kg category, Preeti Pawar outclassed Zambia’s Catherine Mwape in a one-sided 5-0 victory. The Asian Games bronze medallist dictated the contest from start to finish, repeatedly punishing Mwape with sharp counter-attacks and left straights. The Zambian boxer was given three standing counts across the first two rounds as Preeti cruised into the final, where she will face Canada’s Scarlett Delgado.“I am very happy that I have managed to do what I prepared for. I have to give my best tomorrow for the gold medal. I never take my opponents lightly and always prepare in detail with my coaches. I am happy that I am able to implement those plans,” Preeti told PTI after the bout.In the men’s 80kg semifinal, Ankush Panghal brushed aside Canada’s Joshua Ofori with another emphatic 5-0 victory. Ofori struggled to cope with the Indian’s speed and precision, resorting to repeated clinches as Ankush controlled the fight throughout.Jadumani Singh then completed India’s perfect day in the ring, defeating Namibia’s P. P. M. Haoseb by a unanimous 5-0 decision in the men’s 55kg semifinal. With five boxers already through to the finals and five more semifinal bouts still to come later in the evening, India’s pugilists have laid down a strong marker in Glasgow, raising hopes of a rich gold-medal haul at the Commonwealth Games.
