CWG 2026: Sachin Siwach fights back to win Men's 60kg Boxing Gold, delivers India's sixth Boxing title

India’s Sachin Siwach produced a remarkable comeback to defeat Tryagain Morning Ndevelo and win the men’s 60kg boxing gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Saturday. Despite trailing after the opening two rounds, the Indian boxer staged a superb fightback in the final round to earn a 3-2 split decision, claiming India’s sixth boxing gold medal at Glasgow 2026.

Ndevelo takes early advantage

The opening round was a cautious affair, with both boxers spending the early exchanges sizing each other up. Sachin looked to dictate the pace by pressing forward, while Ndevelo relied on counter-punching. A powerful late punch from the Zimbabwean proved decisive as he edged the opening round 3-2 on the judges’ scorecards. The Indian increased the tempo in the second round, using his hand speed to put pressure on his opponent. However, he struggled to consistently land clean punches as Ndevelo continued to defend smartly and counter effectively.Sachin’s task became tougher after the referee deducted a point for repeatedly lowering his head. Although he managed to take the second round 3-2, he still trailed heading into the decisive final three minutes.

Dramatic final round seals gold

Knowing he needed a big finish, Sachin came out aggressively in the final round, relentlessly chasing Ndevelo around the ring. The Indian continued to absorb counters and received multiple warnings from the referee, but he refused to back down. His persistence paid off in the closing seconds when he landed a powerful punch that forced a standing count against Ndevelo just before the final bell. With no time left after the count, the result rested entirely with the judges. After a tense wait, Sachin was declared the winner by a 3-2 split decision, completing a stunning comeback to secure the Commonwealth Games gold medal. The triumph marked India’s sixth boxing gold medal at Glasgow 2026.
