The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has postponed the Integrated 72nd Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination 2026. The examination, which was earlier scheduled to be held on July 26, 2026, has been deferred due to what the Commission described as “unavoidable reasons.“Candidates who were preparing to appear for the preliminary examination have been advised to keep checking the official BPSC website for further announcements regarding the revised examination schedule.
BPSC issues official postponement notice
In an official notification, the Commission confirmed that the examination will not be conducted on the previously announced date.The notice states:“The Integrated 72nd Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination, which was scheduled to be held on 26 July, 2026, has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons. The new date for the examination will be announced shortly by the Commission.”The notification was issued by the Examination Controller of BPSC and has been uploaded on the Commission’s official portal.
Candidates asked to wait for revised schedule
The Commission has not yet announced the fresh date for the preliminary examination. Aspirants have been advised to regularly visit the official BPSC website for updates on the revised examination date, admit card release and other important instructions.The postponement means that the examination schedule announced earlier this month now stands cancelled until a new timetable is issued.
Exam was scheduled for July 26
Earlier, BPSC had announced that the Integrated 72nd Combined Preliminary Examination would be conducted on July 26, 2026 (Sunday) in a single shift across examination centres in Bihar.With the latest notification, candidates will now have to wait for the Commission to announce the revised examination calendar.
Recruitment for 1,186 government vacancies
The BPSC Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) is one of Bihar’s major state civil services recruitment examinations. The 72nd recruitment cycle aims to fill 1,186 vacancies in different departments of the Bihar government.The recruitment process is conducted in three stages—preliminary examination, mains examination and interview.
Posts to be filled through the recruitment drive
Successful candidates will be appointed to several Group A and Group B administrative positions, including:
- Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)
- Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)
- Rural Development Officer
- Revenue Officer
- Block Panchayat Raj Officer
- Other administrative posts in various state government departments
