UGC NET answer key 2026: NTA releases provisional key today, result expected later this month

UGC NET answer key 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is releasing the provisional answer key for the UGC NET June 2026 examination today, August 16, 2026. Candidates who appeared for the examination can check the provisional key, question paper and individual response sheet through the official UGC NET portal.NTA has listed a joint public notice covering the provisional answer keys for UGC NET, Joint CSIR-UGC NET and ICAR examinations on its official notice board. Candidates should keep their login credentials ready to access their recorded responses and compare them with the provisional answers.UGC NET June 2026 examination detailsThe June 2026 UGC NET cycle covers 87 subjects. Statistics, with Subject Code 107, and Forestry were introduced as new subjects in this examination cycle.The examination was conducted entirely in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The main examination dates were June 22, June 23, June 24, June 25, June 29 and June 30, 2026, followed by a re-examination on July 5, 2026.The examination consisted of two compulsory papers taken consecutively. Paper I had 50 multiple-choice questions carrying 100 marks, while Paper II contained 100 questions carrying 200 marks. The combined paper therefore had 150 questions and 300 marks. Candidates received two marks for each correct answer and there was no negative marking.Objection window and final answer keyThe objection facility is scheduled to open with the provisional answer key. NTA has indicated that the challenge window will remain available for about two to three days, with the exact closing date to be specified in the official notice and portal.Candidates who identify an answer they believe is incorrect can submit a challenge within the prescribed period. The provisional key will be reviewed after the challenge process, following which NTA will prepare the final answer key.The final answer key is expected in the fourth week of August 2026, while the June session result and scorecards are expected in the last week of August 2026.December 2026 UGC NET cycleNTA’s tentative schedule for the next UGC NET cycle places the release of the December 2026 notification in the first week of October 2026. The application correction window is expected in November, followed by the admit card and city intimation slip in the last week of December. The December cycle examination is scheduled for the first week of January 2027.
