Rishabh Pant creates history, becomes first Indian to achieve this feat in Tests

NEW DELHI: India’s star wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant created history on Tuesday during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. The India wicketkeeper-batter became the first Indian cricketer to hit 100 sixes in Test cricket.Pant reached the milestone with a big six off Lahiru Kumara. The shot also brought up his 20th Test fifty.

Pant joins elite list

Pant became only the fourth batter in Test history to hit 100 sixes.Ben Stokes leads the list with 138 sixes, followed by Brendon McCullum with 107. Pant is now third with 100 sixes, while former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist also has 100.Pant reached the landmark in his aggressive style against Kumara. The Sri Lankan pacer bowled a delivery on a length and angled it into the left-hander. Pant got inside the line and pulled it over long leg.Nuwantha tried to catch the ball but could only watch it sail over the boundary.The six also brought up Pant’s fifty, his 20th in Test cricket.
