'Just a shame': RCB star reveals Virat Kohli was secretly photographed during private meet
Jordan Cox feels sorry for Virat Kohli (Image: X)

England batter Jordan Cox has expressed disappointment over the lack of privacy afforded to Virat Kohli, revealing that the former India captain was secretly photographed during what was meant to be a quiet catch-up in London. Cox, who met his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate and mentor ahead of his England Test debut at The Oval last month, said neither of them realized they had been photographed until images of the meeting surfaced online hours later.According to Cox, the pair enjoyed a peaceful meeting at a cafe, with hundreds of people walking past without interrupting them. However, the privacy they believed they had was short-lived.

‘People Are Following Him Without Him Knowing’

“The upsetting thing for him is that people are following him without him knowing. Hundreds of people walked past us, no one stopped, no one did anything. But then about two hours later he’s texting me going, ‘Have you seen all these photos?’ I was like, ‘What the hell?'” Cox told The Guardian. The England batter admitted he felt sorry for Kohli, saying the Indian superstar rarely gets the opportunity to enjoy a normal life away from the cricket field.“It’s just a shame how many people want a piece of him. He just wants to go under the radar, have fun and live a normal life. Unfortunately, that’s not always possible,” he added.

‘He Always Wants to Help Others’

While Kohli is widely known for his fierce on-field intensity, Cox said the he is a completely different person behind the scenes. The young batter praised Kohli for the time he invested in helping him during their stint together at Royal Challengers Bengaluru, describing the Indian great as one of the most selfless senior players he has encountered.“The thing that I found the most special during the IPL is how much time he gave me as a player and, for someone that’s achieved so much, how much he gives back generally. Some guys focus on their own game, but he is someone who always wants to help others before he helps himself. That is very rare,” Cox concluded.

Virat to return for the ODI series against England

Virat Kohli is set to return to international cricket when India begin their three-match ODI series against England on July 14, following the conclusion of the ongoing T20I series. Before shifting focus to the ODI series, however, India have one final opportunity to end a disappointing T20I campaign on a positive note. Shreyas Iyer’s side trail the five-match series 3-0 after suffering consecutive defeats and will be aiming to avoid a series whitewash in the fifth and final T20I at Southampton.England, on the other hand, have plenty to play for despite already sealing the series. Harry Brook’s men are chasing a dominant 4-0 series victory and, with a win in the final match, could also leapfrog India to become the No. 1-ranked T20I team in the ICC rankings.
