Harry Brook has opened the door to a possible return to the Indian Premier League (IPL), saying he could consider entering the tournament again in the future despite previously ruling out franchise cricket. The England white-ball captain said that his priority remains playing for England, but acknowledged the IPL’s value in helping players improve.“Who knows what the future holds, but yeah, and like I said, I’m completely focused on playing as much cricket as I possibly can for England, and that is my one and only priority at the moment,” he told Cricinfo.“Yeah, definitely. The IPL is a great competition, and it’s a great experience, and you go over there, you leave a better player. It’s a very good competition to be a part of, and it’s something that I’ll definitely think about in the future,” he added.Brook’s latest comments mark a change from his earlier position. Before England’s T20I series against India last month, he had said he was committed to international cricket and did not want to play franchise leagues apart from the Hundred.“I’ve committed completely to England cricket. I’ve said that I don’t want to play any franchise cricket barring the Hundred, and everything that I want to do is to play cricket for England,” Brook had said.Brook has also been serving an IPL ban until 2027 under BCCI rules after withdrawing from the 2025 season following his selection at the auction. He had previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 2025 withdrawal led to the ban, meaning Brook cannot return to the IPL auction until 2028.
