NEET UG 2026 counselling: MCC extends Round 1 choice-filling deadline till August 18, check complete details here
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the Round 1 choice-filling deadline for NEET UG 2026 counselling, allowing candidates to submit and lock their preferences until 11:59 pm on August 18. Registered candidates must finalise their preferred medical and dental colleges, arrange choices carefully and complete the locking process within the revised deadline to remain eligible for seat allocation.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the deadline for choice filling in Round 1 of the NEET UG 2026 counselling process. Candidates participating in the counselling can now submit and lock their preferred colleges and courses until 11:59 pm on August 18.The revised deadline was announced through an official notice issued by the MCC on August 17. As per the notice, the choice-locking facility for Round 1 opened at 5:30 pm on August 17.Candidates who have already registered for the NEET UG counselling process must ensure that their choices are submitted and locked within the extended deadline. Once the choice-locking window closes, candidates may not get another opportunity to modify their preferences for the round.

NEET UG 2026: Steps to fill counselling choices

Candidates can follow the steps elucidated here to fill in the counselling choices as provided here:

  • Go to the official MCC website and log in using your registered credentials.
  • Click on the NEET UG 2026 counselling section and select the choice-filling link.
  • Enter your login details and access the choice-filling dashboard.
  • Review the available medical and dental colleges and courses displayed on the portal.
  • Select the colleges and courses you wish to apply for and add them to your preference list.
  • Arrange the selected choices in your preferred order. The order of preference is important during seat allocation.
  • Review the entire list carefully and make any necessary changes before finalising it.
  • Click on the Save/Lock Choices option and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
  • Once the choices are locked, download or save a copy of the choice-filling confirmation for future reference.
  • Candidates should complete the process before the revised deadline of 11:59 pm on August 18, 2026.
