Uttarakhand issues orange alert for four districts; schools closed in Bageshwar today

Schools up to Class 12 in Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand will remain closed today, August 10, due to a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. The decision has been taken in view of the weather conditions and the rainfall forecast for the district.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange alert’ for four districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Bageshwar, Nainital and Champawat. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in these districts.The weather department has also warned of lightning and intense to extremely intense rainfall in some areas. A ‘yellow alert’ has been issued for the remaining districts of the state.Following the weather warning, the State Emergency Operation Centre has asked all districts to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures.Students and parents in Bageshwar are advised to follow official updates from the district administration regarding the reopening of schools.
