PUNE: With India’s healthcare sector expanding rapidly and creating millions of employment opportunities, demand for skilled professionals is expected to double by 2030. Tapping into this growing need, the Mulshi Institute of Retail Management (MIRM) has launched its MBA in Healthcare Administration programme from the 2026–27 academic year.The programme has been approved by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the institute’s Founder Director, Saroja Asthana, announced at a press conference. MIRM Executive Director Vilas Pharande and Prof. Sunil Chavan were also present.Asthana said the programme offers significant career opportunities in the healthcare sector by equipping students with practical skills and in-depth knowledge in hospital and pharmaceutical operations, medical technology innovation, healthcare analytics, and healthcare policy.She further said that the institute would facilitate internship opportunities with leading corporate hospitals, industries, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and reputed healthcare service providers. The institute will also extend comprehensive placement support to students.Speaking on occasion Dr Pharande said the programme is recognised by both the Maharashtra government and the Central government, and graduates from various medical disciplines are eligible for admission.The two-year programme is available with minimal tuition fees, while students can also avail themselves of various government scholarships and concessions. The last date for admission is August 31.He said the institute has maintained a 100 percent placement record and aims to continue the tradition. Students will benefit from an updated curriculum, experienced faculty, guidance from industry experts, internship opportunities, and dedicated career counselling and placement assistance. The healthcare sector is witnessing rapid expansion and there is an increasing demand for skilled management professionals, creating diverse career opportunities, he added.Chavan said MIRM has been serving the education sector for the past 16 years. He noted that the institute’s founder, Dr. Asthana, is a Nobel Prize participation awardee and a highly qualified engineer who earned her PhD from IIT Kharagpur. She has also worked as a researcher at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL). Under her leadership, the institute has established itself as a reputed centre for management education.The institute’s campus houses a 100-bed Ivy Leaf Ayurvedic Hospital, which provides affordable healthcare services to economically weaker patients. It also works jointly with the Malegaon Primary Health Centre to deliver healthcare services.
