The England batting mainstay remained unbeaten in all three innings of the July 2026 ODI series, finishing with 249 runs without being dismissed, making him the first England batter to score six consecutive ODI half-centuries.Root’s remarkable consistency saw him become the batter with the most runs in a bilateral ODI series without losing his wicket, surpassing Jos Buttler’s 248* against the Netherlands in 2022 and Ricky Ponting’s 241* against New Zealand in 2007.
